Department of Journalism
The Department of Journalism was founded in 1952 and is the most renown university journalistic educational and research institution in Slovakia. It collaborates with the best domestic and foreign media schools and partners. The department is the regular member of the representative association of European schools of journalism EJTA (European Journalism Training Association). It provides special courses to students preparing for the work in printed, electronic and new media, as well as for the creative posts with printing or advertising agencies, in the sphere of public relations and for the posts of media representatives and spokespeople. Apart from traditional lectures, the educational process comprises seminars, workshops and different techniques of activating methodology which are directly followed by students’ practical journalistic work in individual media ateliers at the department, as well as in media practice.
At present, the study at the department is accredited for the 3-year Bachelor’s degree (Bc.) and the 2-year Master’s degree (Mgr.)
